Research on Ageing Worforce

The National Productivity and Competitiveness Council (NPCC) had launched a study in 2018 on the theme “Ageing Workforce – Opportunities and Challenges for the Republic of Mauritius” in an effort to craft the best strategies and shape our economic model to respond to the demographic composition of the country in the years to come.

The NPCC had set up a Productivity Committee (PC) to carry out the study and propose recommendations to adapt a new economic model along an ageing workforce. The preliminary findings following discussions of the PC members were shared with members of the public through the ECO platform. Citizens had the opportunity to share their opinion and give their feedback. Besides the ECO platform, focus group discussions and consultative meetings are also being held with relevant stakeholders from public and private sector, Non Governmental Organisations (NGOs) and civil society organisations. The study was led by the consultant, Mrs. Anita Ramgutty Wong.
