Ebène, 05 February, 2020: The National Productivity and Competitiveness Council (NPCC) launched today the latest edition of InnovEd, an initiative aimed at promoting and instilling creative, critical and innovative thinking among students.
Secondary schools are presently being invited to participate in InnovEd 2020, which will again build on the theory of Multiple Intelligences along with themes targeting the creative industries. The themes are Interactive Media, Cultural Heritage, Performing Arts, Visual Arts and Craft, Design and Languages and Publishing. Students will have up to 17 February to register.
“InnovEd is an important initiative that aims at honing the innovative and creative minds of our young students. Year on year, the NPCC has left no stone unturned to continuously transform InnovEd into a highly sought-after platform where students get the opportunity to showcase their talents to innovate and create. Innovation today is an important pillar in our drive to create a better living for tomorrow and ultimately become a high-income nation in the years to come,” says Mr. Ashit Kumar Gungah, Executive Director of the NPCC.
InnovEd 2020 will have a particular focus on the Innovation Club, which the NPCC intends to develop further into a permanent structure that will continue to exist over and above yearly InnovEd editions.
The Innovation Club will serve as a think-tank on creativity and innovation and at the same time, provide a framework for students to develop their skills in creativity and innovation.
A new feature in InnovEd 2020 is the training on Design Thinking and Innovation in Education. The training, which will take place in March, will target facilitators who will then coach the students in the development of their projects. The students will have to submit their projects at the end of May.
This year will also include the CREAThon which has as objective to convert selected prototypes developed in Innovation Clubs into products or services with the assistance from experts.
InnovEd 2020 will culminate with an award ceremony to reward the best projects in June.
