"Fostering a culture of excellence allows organisations to be forward-looking and proactive. A culture of excellence requires a willingness to invent future by involving everyone. It also supports teams to function as agents of change aiming at continuous improvement," he pointed out.
The AKA, organised as part of the African Kaizen Initiatives (AKI) is given to organisations that conduct excellent activities for improving quality and productivity and have achieved better results which serve as model cases to be shared in Africa. The NPCC nominates two of the Grand Winners and/or Gold Awardees of its National Productivity and Quality Convention (rebranded as National Productivity and Quality Excellence Award) to the Africa KAIZEN Award.
The AKI was initiated by the African Union Development Agency and AUDA-NEPAD Agency and the JICA initiated since 2017, the strengthening and expansion of KAIZEN management in the continent through the Africa Kaizen Initiative (AKI) agreement ending in 2028.
